Step 1

In a medium saucepan, heat oil or butter. Add in chopped onion and saute until soft, 2-3 minutes. Add in turmeric and rice, stir 1 minute.

Step 2

Add water or broth, garlic powder, black pepper, salt and green peas. Bring to a boil. Reduce to low heat, cover and simmer until water is absorbed and rice is cooked, about 20 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork.

So easy and a delight to eat. The only change I made was that I had to omit the onion due to dietary needs and also used doongara rice (a white low GI rice) otherwise made as per recipe and also using the suggested vegetable broth instead of water. Thank you elleLee for a great side dish to my duck, made for Alphabet Tag Game at FF&F.
