Ingredients

The ingredients are:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or butter)
  • 1/4 to 1/3 cup yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 200 grams dry long-grain white rice (dry, 1 cup)
  • 2 cups water (or vegetable broth)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup green peas (frozen)

How to Make

  • Step 1: In a medium saucepan, heat oil or butter. Add in chopped onion and saute until soft, 2-3 minutes. Add in turmeric and rice, stir 1 minute.

  • Step 2: Add water or broth, garlic powder, black pepper, salt and green peas. Bring to a boil. Reduce to low heat, cover and simmer until water is absorbed and rice is cooked, about 20 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork.
