Step by Step Method

Step 1

Line an 8 inch square pan with foil, grease foil.

Step 2

Mix sugar and milk in a heavy saucepan.

Step 3

Add butter and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Step 4

Without stirring, boil vigorously for 5 minutes.

Step 5

Remove from heat.

Step 6

Add chips and vanilla.

Step 7

Stir, then whisk until chips melt and mixture is smooth.

Step 8

Stir in almonds and cherries; spread in prepared pan.

Step 9

Refrigerate 6 hours, until firm.

Step 10

Invert pan, peel off foil and cut into 1 inch squares.

Followed your recipe right on down using the dried cherries, & even though the winter holidays are over with, we had a very festive, very tasty fudge! I cut my pieces a bit bigger than suggested, getting some 40, which satisfied the 2 of us! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
