"I made this a little while ago and we really liked it, I cannot compare it to Wendy's because I've never had it but I hear it's quite good. Makes about 16 cups and it freezes really well"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large 12 quart heavy bottom pot over medium high heat add ground beef, yellow onion, 2 teaspoons kosher salt and pepper. Cook until beef is browned, drain drippings if necessary. Add in all the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce to simmer. Simmer partially covered for 1 1/2-3 hours (the flavor gets better if simmered a longer time, if it gets to thick add in more broth or water and keep cooking).

Step 2

Season with more salt if needed during cooking. Serve.

Great chili and easy to make. I added a bit more cumin than called for, but otherwise the seasoning was just right.

I made this on 10/31/14 for mine and my SO's dinner, but most importantly for the " What's on the Menu ? " in FFF. Except for cutting the recipe in half and using sweet onion, the recipe was made as it was written. As the beef and onion was cooking a bit of additional garlic powder was added. After adding and stirring the remaining ingredients, the chili was allowed to simmer for at least 2 hours to let the flavors meld. I want to say that I'm very pleased to be the first one to MERP this recipe. " Keep Smiling :) "
