"My mother and grandmother has made this cake recipe since the 1930's apparently it was from a newspaper, and has become well known and loved over the years, it's called wacky because there are no eggs in it and the prep is quite different than a regular cake, it can be iced or without icing, it's delicious any way you make it. I like it with warm with just butter, also powdered sugar is good on it if you don't want to have icing"

Step 1

Mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a 9x13 pan.

Step 2

Make three holes in the flour mixture.

Step 3

In one put vanilla; in another the vinegar, and in the third the oil.

Step 4

Pour water over all and stir well.

Step 5

Bake at 350 degrees F until it springs back to the touch or a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean - about 25 minutes.

This cake is so good! Love the texture and deep chocolate taste. Oh, did I mention how moist it is? It is very moist and delicious. I made mine with peanut butter frosting that tasted just like fudge. Oh wow! What a combo!!

This cake is wonderful. It was moist and had a great chocolate flavor. The cake itself isn't too sweet which I loved. Vanilla frosting was the icing on the cake!

My aunt makes this cake all the time and it is so delicious that I wanted to try making it. It came out so moist and deliciously chocolate. I used an 8X8" pan, hoping It was the right size as it isn't stated in the directions, and that worked out well. I may double it for the next birthday party
