"I've taste tested many hot chocolates and cocoas, and this one is the BEST! I made some changes to a favorite recipe to perfect it. Results? Velvety smooth rich liquid chocolate! It sure quenches a chocolate craving and warms the soul! I like to double it, and bring it in a pump thermos to Winter parties."

Step 1

In a large saucepan, whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.

Step 2

Whisk milk into dry ingredients.

Step 3

Over medium heat, bring mixture to a simmer, whisking constantly. Try not to let it boil.

Step 4

Add chocolate chips and whisk until melted and smooth.

Step 5

Return to a simmer, whisking constantly until frothy.

Step 6

Remove from heat and whisk in vanilla.

Step 7

Pour into 4 mugs and top with whipped cream, if desired. You can also dust it with cocoa powder or chocolate shavings.

This really is velvety smooth. And tasty! I made one change-instead of vanilla extract, I used raspberry extract-love raspberry and chocolate together!

This is so much better than any hot chocolate I have ever made. My husband and I had some this morning and I found myself having another mug full at lunch and then again this afternoon. This could become a habit. So yummy!
