Step by Step Method

Step 1

Combine Burger Seasoning ingredients and set aside.

Step 2

Place mushrooms in the bowl of the food processor and pulse on and off until mushrooms are finely chopped but not powdery.

Step 3

Heat olive oil in a 10" non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Add mushrooms and onions; cook and stir until mushrooms are tender and start to brown a bit, about 5 minutes; they should appear dry and crumbly, not wet.

Step 5

Remove from heat and let cool.

Step 6

In a large bowl, combine beef, mushrooms, parsley and burger seasoning.

Step 7

Mix using your hands until all ingredients are well blended.

Step 8

Shape ground beef mixture into 4 patties and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Step 9

Preheat grill to medium-high and lightly oil grill racks.

Step 10

Grill burgers for about 5 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired degree of doneness.

Step 11

During the last minute of cooking time, baste with barbecue sauce, if using.

Step 12

Serve immediately with buns or without, topped with your favvy burger garnishes.

10 stars. I have made burgers with mushrooms and love the moistness the mushrooms provide, but the star of this recipe is the spice blend. Going to keep a batch of this on hand, not just for burgers but for chicken or pork.

Since this recipe called for extra lean ground beef, I thought using ground venison would be perfect for this and I was right, it worked perfectly. The mushrooms added moisture to the meat which made it so juicy and flavorful. I topped mine with cheese, avocado, onion and mayo. Oh YUM!!!

This is what burgers are all about. So much flavor going on from the mushroom/onion to the spice blend! We topped it with cheese, some BBQ sauce, etc. and loved every minute of dinner tonight. We were all happy campers. Thank you, Luvcookn, for another keeper!
