"I saw a recipe for this in a Food and Drink magazine and I just had to try it!! I have made this a few times now with a few tweaks to suit our taste buds. This is great with yogurt or with ice cream but it also makes a great side to any main meat. These keep for a couple of months in the refrigerator."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Remove the pits from the plums and cut them into wedges, toss them together with the cherries and garlic in a large bowl; set aside.

Step 2

Place the remaining ingredients in a large pot and bring to a boil while stirring; reduce heat and simmer while stirring until sugar and salt are completely dissolved.

Step 3

Pour the syrup over the fruit mixture, cover and keep refrigerated for a couple of days before serving.

I have finished making this recipe. I have made exactly as written, and it is in the fridge waiting for a few days before I can open and taste. I will be back! UPDATE: I used the first jar last night with Ice-Cream, DD and I both enjoyed this recipe, we loved the savoury with the sweet flavour of the Ice-Cream, and loved the popping of the mustard seeds, in our mouth's when you bit into them..... lol I have another jar and hoping to serve this as a side with meat or maybe on a cheese board. UPDATE (2): Got my wish and served this on a cheeseboard...and wow... do these pickles pair with cheese! I only had one jar left and they were gobbled up immediately. The spicy flavours of the plums and cherries with Brie cheese is to die for! Well done Bea... A great yet versatile recipe to make. Now just to wait for summer again!
