"My very favorite Sloppy Joe recipe that I've been making for years. I try other recipes but always come back to this one... I serve this on buns in the "traditional" way, but also use it as meat sauce for pasta with cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. It is a Taste of Home recipe that I have tweaked a little."

I made this for mine and my SO dinner last night.A few changes were done to the recipe. First to get a bigger depth of flavor, the ground beef and onion were browned in about 1/8 cup bacon grease. As the meat/onion mixture was browning,a bit of pepper and garlic powder was sprinkled on the top.For the BBQ sauce,a sweet hickory smoke flavor was used.I did use the full amount of mustard and ketchup. Since my SO can't handle vinegar very well, it was cut down to just 1/2 tsp. In addition to the garlic powder I used when browning the meat, the amount stated in the recipe was upped to 1 tsp..After doing a "Quality Taste Test ",I felt the brown sugar wasn't needed. My SO and I both enjoyed this. Along with the Sloppy Joes we had baked beans & tater tots. Thanks for posting and " Keep Smiling :) "

There is just enough "juice" to make a lovely moist texture. Love the flavour - I used This is an easy, tasty "do Again" recipe Sweet Baby Rayy BBQ sauce.

I automatically doubled this recipe as I know my two guys love bbq's. They'll eat this for left-overs for days. Plain too, like you noted in your introduction, or served with chips. They don't always need a bun. A nice blend of savory sweet with the addition of the bbq sauce. Made for Ground Beef Tag.~
