Step by Step Method

Step 1

Using a vegetable peeler, remove the orange peel from the orange in strips and place the peel in a heavy pot (reserve orange for another use). Add the remainder of the ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to medium low; simmer until cider is reduced to 8 cups (40 minutes). Strain into a medium pot or use a crock pot to keep cider warm.

Excellent! Loved the cardamom in this. Next time, will cut the sugar back just a tad. And maybe add a little bourbon or spiced rum! Thanks for sharing - this is my new favorite spiced cider!

I love cider and this cider was so soothing, especially during a cold winter's day. Love all the spices and the reduction really added to it's success. I had cut the recipe down to serve a couple of us, but we needed seconds and thirds, so I wound up making more. Yum. Thanks so much, ellie for sharing. Made it for "Only the Lonely".
