Step 1: Using a vegetable peeler, remove the orange peel from the orange in strips and place the peel in a heavy pot (reserve orange for another use). Add the remainder of the ingredients to the pot and bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves. Reduce heat to medium low; simmer until cider is reduced to 8 cups (40 minutes). Strain into a medium pot or use a crock pot to keep cider warm.
