"Found this off of link to - sweet little blue bird and converted to gluten free. I wanted quick and easy cake but was tired of chocolate. to make regular cake just use all purpose flour and omit xantham gum. This is depression era cake. no milk, butter, eggs"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Combine first 6 ingredients in greased 8 inch square baking pan 5 if using regular flour and omitting xantham gum. make 3 depressions in dry ingredients.2 small 1 large. pour water over all.mix well until smooth.
Step 2
Bake 350* 30-35 minutes. check with toothpick mine took 30 minutes. top with favorite frosting. I used vanilla. recipe says you can double but put in 9x13.
Step 3
For pumkin spice I used 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon , 1/2 teaspoon each clove, ginger, nutmeg
