"Sophia used 2 ounces pancetta. If you don't like heat don't add red pepper flakes. Barilla makes a wonderful Bucatini Pasta. It didn't have dried basil but I wanted to add fresh basil at very end and they had it where I put dried."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Place the oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat and add the bacon and onions.
Step 2
When the onions begin to turn golden add the chile pepper flakes, dried basil, tomatoes and a pinch of salt.
Step 3
Cook the sauce for about 15 minutes until the flavors are nicely combined.
Step 4
Meanwhile, cook bucatini pasta in heavily salted boiling water until al dente.
Step 5
Drain saving 1/2 cup pasta water.
Step 6
Toss the pasta with the sauce.
Step 7
Add basil and pasta water.
Step 8
Cook until thickened.
Step 9
Sprinkle generously with cheese.
