Mix the brown sugar, pepper and garlic powder together in a small bowl.
Pat all over the roast.
Place the roast in a prepared smoker and smoke at 275 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 1/2 hours.
Remove the roast from the smoker, place on a cutting board, sprinkle with salt and tent with a piece of foil.
Allow to rest for 15 minutes before you cut into it.
