Step by Step Method

Step 1

Peel and clean the squash, throwing the seeds and the peel away.

Step 2

Cut the squash into squares and put it into the slow cooker. Cut the one stick of butter into slices and place it into the slow cooker on top of the squash.

Step 3

Mix the rest of the ingredients together in a small bowl and sprinkle over the top of everything.

Step 4

Place the lid on and cook on high for 3 hours. Don't open the lid while it's cooking.

Whenever we have squash, it’s a sure sign that all my favorite autumn & winter dishes are here and this sure did ring it in well. Loved the ease of the slow-cooker and a great way to save oven time during busy holiday cooking. I cooked it on low for obviously longer than 3 hours, but I can't remember how much longer. Also adjusted the spices a bit to suit our tastes. Thank you, WAIGEN, for sharing this delicious side.

This is so good -- next time I might use less sugar but we really enjoyed this way of making squash and so easy too! I think we could have mashed the squash but we didn't we kept it in pieces. Thanks for sharing!
