Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar, oil, applesauce, eggs, vanilla, milk and water.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, mix the oats, oat bran, flax, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
Step 3
Add the dry to the wet, mix thoroughly, then fold in the chocolate chips or fruit, if using.
Step 4
Pour into a greased 9x13 pan and bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden on the edges. If you don't bake until totally cake-like, you can take it out, fluff it with a fork and serve it with milk. Otherwise, cut and eat with butter like coffee cake.
