The ingredient tips, suggestions, variations, facts, questions and answers below are not edits to the original author's recipe. They are not meant to imply any change would improve the recipe. • Choose shrimp that has been cooked already for convenience.
  • Select tomatoes that are large enough to hold the shrimp salad.

  • Substitute cooked crab for the shrimp to add a richer flavor. The benefit of this substitution is that the crab will add a more robust flavor to the salad, while still keeping the same overall texture.
  • Substitute Greek yogurt for the mayonnaise for a healthier alternative. The benefit of this substitution is that it will reduce the amount of fat and calories in the salad, while still providing a creamy texture.

Tuna Salad On Tomatoes Replace the cooked shrimp with 1 pound of canned tuna, drained and flaked. Follow the same instructions for the rest of the recipe.

Garlic Bread: This classic side dish is a great accompaniment to the shrimp salad. The buttery garlic flavor will add a delicious contrast to the light and refreshing flavors of the salad.

Tomato Soup: This creamy tomato soup will provide a warm and comforting contrast to the light and refreshing flavors of the shrimp salad. The soup's creamy texture and savory tomato flavor will round out the meal and make it a complete and satisfying experience.

FAQ

Q: How long should I cook the shrimp?

A: The shrimp should be cooked before adding it to the salad. Cook the shrimp until it is pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes.

Q: What type of shrimp should I use?

A: Any type of shrimp will work for the salad. You can use cooked or raw shrimp, peeled or unpeeled. If using raw shrimp, make sure it is fresh and of good quality.

This salad is so amazingly good...I downsized it for one...so just threw some sliced lettuce on a plate along with two slices of tomato...then followed the rest of the recipe...the dressing is very tasty and does make quite a bit...in fact a bit more than needed...next time I think I will use a seasoning salt like Johnny's seasoning instead of just salt and pepper...that was the only thing I think was lacking...made for "Billboard" tag game...
