"These Asian style green beans are sweet, sour, and if you prefer they can be slightly spicy, by adding the optional chile flakes."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Place the green beans and water into a saucepan, and bring the water to a boil. Simmer the beans, uncovered, until they are almost tender and there is just a bit of water left, then stir in the red pepper strips. Simmer a little longer, until the beans are tender and all of the water has evaporated. Take the pan off the heat.

Step 2

While the beans cook, combine the soy sauce, cornstarch, dry mustard, honey, and if using, add the chile flakes (if you prefer and want a kick) in a small bowl. Place the green beans back over medium-high heat, and add the soy mixture. Toss until the vegetables are well coated, letting the sauce boil and thicken a bit.

Step 3

Take the pan off the heat. Drizzle in the sesame oil, and sprinkle on the toasted sesame seeds, if you are using them. Serve the beans immediately.

We thoroughly enjoyed this recipe! Used fresh Haricots Verts and the red pepper option. This is a great way to make green beans. Fast and easy to prepare. Thank you for sharing ForeverMama! Made for Billboard Recipe Tag.
