Step by Step Method
Step 1
Soak the beans in cold water overnight.
Step 2
Wash beans, place in a kettle and add enough cold water to make the water level 2 inches higher than the top of the beans.( i would put in crock pot here )
Step 3
Bring to boil and cook 1 hour.
Step 4
Add remaining ingredients (except beef).
Step 5
Reduce flame and cook 4 to 6 hours, or more if desired.may need more water stir so doesnt burn
Step 6
Add browned ground beef, if using.
