"An easy casserole. Turns out there is a folktale about a beautiful woman who made her husband promise not to look at her on Saturdays. Why? Because on Saturdays her bottom half turned into a serpent (or mermaid depending on the version)! In fact,  Some sources say that a Melusine is the symbol on the Starbuck's logo!!! Changes to recipe per Linky's suggestion."

I had to try this because of the unusual name. I wasn't clear what "Fry the cauliflower" meant, so I looked at several German sites with the same recipe, slightly different ingredients. I discovered that it probably should have said either "Dry" or "Drain" the cauliflower. I parboiled the cauliflower too long and it was quite soft, but that was a minor error on my part. Did not have evaporated milk and used regular milk - too soupy! Again, my mistake. One of the German recipes mentioned to make a roux - I think that would work well. No salt was mentioned and it definitely needs some salt. In conclusion - this was an unusual, tasty dish and pretty to look at when it came out of the oven!
