Shaping and Cooking Sausage Rolls
Step 4
In a small bowl lightly beat the extra egg for an egg wash.
Step 5
Lay a sheet of pastry on a work surface.
Step 6
Cut sheet in half horizontally. Spread 1/8 of the meat mixture down the long side of one pastry half.
Step 7
With clean hands, shape into sausage. Brush opposite long edge with a little egg wash.
Step 8
Roll the pastry around the mince mixture to form a long sausage.
Step 9
Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Step 10
Cut into 6 even pieces and arrange on prepared baking tray to allow enough room to puff.
Step 11
Repeat with the second pastry half.
Step 12
Then repeat with the other 3 sheets of puff pastry using up all the meat mixture.
Step 13
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown and the filling is cooked through.
Step 14
Serve with your choice of dipping sauce.
