Step by Step Method

Step 1

To make the popcorn in a dutch oven on medium high heat add 1 tablespoon oil and heat and then add the corn kernels; cover and swirl until the kernels pop and keep swirls until popping slows -- this will take about 5 minutes for all the kernels to pop. Set aside.

Step 2

Line a rimmed cookie sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3

In a dutch oven on medium heat melt the butter and then add the pecans and brown sugar; bring to a boil and cook for 3 -5 minutes. Stir in salt and baking soda. Remove from heat and stir in the popcorn.

Step 4

Spread in the prepared pan and let cool for 15 minutes.

What a treat. We had this on Saturday night and everyone knows that popcorn makes every Saturday night rock, right! It didn’t come out too sweet or to bland, but the right level of all the right flavors. Loved the pecans, they came out crunchy with great flavor and added so much goodness to the popcorn. So good. Thanks, ellie, for sharing.
