Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, bread crumbs, egg and Worcestershire sauce- form into plump 4 patties.

Step 2

Heat a skillet over medium then add the butter - cook the meat patties for about 4 minutes per side or until browned- remove and set aside.

Step 3

Turn the heat to low/medium and place the onions in the pan ( on top of the butter and browned bits - cook for 20 minutes or more until the onions are soft and well browned - stir occasionally.

Step 4

Sprinkle in the 2 Tb of flour over the onions and let cook, while stirring, for about 2 minutes.

Step 5

Add the beef broth and turn up the stove to medium.

Step 6

Add the meat patties back into the pan- cover - and let cook for 15 more minutes.

This was great - made as directed except I used vegetable broth instead of the beef broth. Served with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables -- this is definitely comfort food! Thanks for sharing!
