Step 1

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Step 2

Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl: cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Step 3

Add milk, egg, and butter.

Step 4

Mix together.

Step 5

Pour into a greased, shallow cast iron skillet.

Step 6

Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Cut into wedges
