Step by Step Method

Step 1

Mix dry ingredients.

Add buttermilk in which baking soda has been dissolved.

Mix in beaten eggs

Add melted butter (the original called for lard).

Pour into a well greased pan (smoking hot cast iron skillet) and bake in a preheated 375°F oven for about 25 minutes, or until set in center.
