  • 3 eggs, well beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoon butter, melted (lard)

How to Make

  • Step 1: Mix dry ingredients.

  • Step 2: Add buttermilk in which baking soda has been dissolved.

  • Step 3: Mix in beaten eggs

  • Step 4: Add melted butter (the original called for lard).

  • Step 5: Pour into a well greased pan (smoking hot cast iron skillet) and bake in a preheated 375°F oven for about 25 minutes, or until set in center.
