"He ate cereal of 3/4 whole wheat and 1/4 whole rye. I'm using cracked. I'm sure butter and maple syrup were involved. Calvin liked breakfast more than any of the other presidents. And did a lot of work at the breakfast table. He also had pancakes & waffles because he had a special maple syrup he used, not sure what it is yet. lol"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Bring salted water to a rolling boil.
Step 2
Add cracked wheat and cracked rye.
Step 3
Stir briskly for a minute, then turn the heat down to low and simmer for 20 minutes or until almost all of the water has been absorbed.
Step 4
Add 1/4 cup of milk .
Step 5
Keep on low heat for another few minutes, but don’t let the milk boil.
Step 6
Add cream.
Step 7
Put the lid on the pot and let it sit for 3-4 minutes to let the cream soak into the cracked grains.
Step 8
Stir again and serve, topped with more cream, butter and maple syrup.
Step 9
Season to taste.
