Step 1: Bring salted water to a rolling boil.
Step 2: Add cracked wheat and cracked rye.
Step 3: Stir briskly for a minute, then turn the heat down to low and simmer for 20 minutes or until almost all of the water has been absorbed.
Step 4: Add 1/4 cup of milk .
Step 5: Keep on low heat for another few minutes, but don’t let the milk boil.
Step 6: Add cream.
Step 7: Put the lid on the pot and let it sit for 3-4 minutes to let the cream soak into the cracked grains.
Step 8: Stir again and serve, topped with more cream, butter and maple syrup.
Step 9: Season to taste.
