Step by Step Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350° F. Butter a casserole dish or baking dish.
Step 2
In a mixing bowl, combine eggs, half-and-half, butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
Step 3
Place bread cubes, pears, cranberries and ginger in a large bowl; add egg mixture. Toss to mix well.
Step 4
Pour bread mixture into prepared casserole dish.
Step 5
Bake the pudding for 45 to 60 minutes, or until set in the center.
Bourbon Sauce
Step 6
In a saucepan over medium heat, blend butter and sugar for 3 to 4 minutes. Remove from heat and add egg yolks to the hot mixture. stirring constantly. This will cook them sufficiently.
Step 7
Gradually add bourbon, stirring constantly. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
Step 8
Spoon warm pudding into bowls and top with bourbon sauce.
