"I love a good lemon drop martini; one of my favorite cocktails, especially when made with fresh-squeezed lemons which beats using a mix any day."

Step by Step Method

Rim Lemon Sugar

Step 1

Place sugar into a wide enough plate to fit the rim of your martini glass, then evenly distribute the zest into the sugar with your fingers until tinted yellow and fragrant.

Lemon Drop Martini Method

Step 2

Rub the edge of the rim of your martini glass (best when the glass has been chilled) with a slice of lemon, making sure it is well moistened. Turn the glass upside down and twist into the lemon sugar until the rim is well covered; set aside.

Step 3

Into a cocktail shaker, add vodka, Cointreau (or Triple Sec), lemon juice, simple syrup, and a handful of ice to a cocktail shaker. Shake for 30 seconds or until very cold. Strain into the prepared martini glass, top with a slice of lemon directly onto the top of the martini and serve immediately. Enjoy!

NOTE: Sometimes I add 1 1/2 oz. of vodka to make it a wee bit less robust, but it's all up to you and sometimes depends on the brand of vodka using.

I was going to say that the Lemon Drop was a little too small, as it barely filled my smallest martini glass. But, it's kicking my behind as I write... Nevertheless, I agree with the other reviewers, this is the BEST lemon drop I've had. Love the zest in the sugared rim. Great lemon flavor, but not too sweet. Thanks for sharing - it's a definite keeper! Oh, almost forgot to say - there was leftover zested sugar from sugaring the rim, and I used it to dredge my lemon slice after the drink was gone. Ate the lemon slice and it was super delish, too!
