"A very old recipe from Mother Kossman. Used cake yeast but I'm subbing. Moderate oven is 375º.this was from a 90 year old guy,from tilden nebraska"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Add lard, sugar and salt to boiling water.

Step 2

Let cool.

Step 3

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to sugar mixture.

Step 4

Make a well and stir water mixture into flour. Knead.

Step 5

Make into balls and let rise 3 hours in warm place.

Step 6

Bake in moderate oven 375 degrees. I'm guessing 20 minutes or until browned.
