"Mom made this for every picnic outing as we loved it so much. originally it is an easy recipe she used utilizing a recipe of Mrs Kennedys Baked Beans (President Kennedys Wife) since mom used bits of this and that I had to watch her to figure out the amounts. Originally she made much more and it is on another recipe this site. but I did not want to loose this favorite pared down version so placed on this site so I can eat if often. Use less water that stated baking time may vary as it was 250 for 53 ounce for 1 1/2 hourI use less boiling water. brown bacon a little before putting on beans to take out some of fat"

Step 1

Mix all but bacon and pre brown that.

Step 2

Put in shallow pan place bacon across top of beans.

Step 3

Bake 350 for 30 minutes.

These beans are so eaay - I thought I had a slice of bacon in the freezer but no go. I'll make this recipe again with the bacon. With or without the bacon the beans are delicious. 4 May 19 Second time I have made them. These will be a regular on my menus.
