"All the grandkids called my mom "MomMom." This is the recipe she used, adapted from the Crisco shortening Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. Now my daughter, Genevieve, is the cookie maker in the family. She would have made MomMom proud."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2

In mixer, cream shortening, brown sugar, milk and vanilla until creamy. Blend in egg.

Step 3

In separate bowl, whisk together flour, salt and baking soda, then add to creamed mixture gradually.

Step 4

Stir in chocolate chips, and nuts if using.

Step 5

Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.

Step 6

Bake 8-10 minutes or until desired doneness.
