Step by Step Method
Step 1
Combine shortening and molasses; cook over low heat 2 minutes stirring constantly.
Step 2
Add soda and brown sugar; stir until sugar dissolves. Cool.
Step 3
Beat eggs until light and fluffy. Combine with molasses mixture. Mix well.
Step 4
Sift flour with salt; add to molasses mixture.
Step 5
Pour into 9 inch greased and floured pan.
Step 6
Sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
Step 7
Bake 35 to 40 minutes in 350 degree oven.
Step 8
Makes 10 squares.
