"We got bored with 'regular' chili and came up with this for football games. Never fails to please and 'newbies' always want the recipe. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!"

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Remove sausage from casing, brown & drain.

Step 2

Add onion, pepper, celery – cook until soft, add garlic & cook for 1 minute.

Step 3

Add sausage, vegetables & rest of ingredients (Not Cheese) into crockpot.

Step 4

Cook on low 4 – 6 hours.

Step 5

Sprinkle cheese over ladled chili.

Step 6

Serve with Chianti (most important step of all!).

I used spicy Italian sausage and doubled the beans. This was really good. I will see if I can make it again when it starts to get cold again. It would be really good with noodles or rice too.

This is delish - but wouldn't call it chili -- no heat whatever. Changes I made was using the whole package of sweet Italian sausage but only 5 ounces of pepperoni. I also didn't have the whole amount of tomatoes - used one large can and 2 (12 ounce) cans of V-8 (instead of tomato juice) also added 1/2 can of chicken broth. Made as directed with these changes and used some cheese I had in the fridge. This makes a lot!!! Very good and leftovers will be great for lunches too! Thanks for sharing!

l would never think to add pepperoni to a chili recipe but it worked great and added great flavor, I used one pound of italian sausage meat and just let it simmer on the stovetop, this is great chili recipe I'll make again! thnks
