Step by Step Method
Step 1
Cream shortening and brown sugar together. Add egg. Add molasses.
Step 2
Sift flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger together; add to creamed mixture.
Step 3
Chill dough overnight.
Step 4
Roll in balls the size of a walnut.
Step 5
Roll on sugar.
Step 6
Place on pan; put 3 drops of water on each ball.
Step 7
Bake just until set, but not hard, at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes.
