Step 1

Smear a 13 X 9 inch pan with some butter. Set it aside.

Step 2

Over low heat, melt the 4 1/2 tablespoons butter; adding the lemon zest and the lemon juice. Add the marshmallows, stirring until they're melted. Next, stir in the cake mix.

Step 3

Remove the pan from the heat. Stir in the cereal. Either butter your hands or a spatula. Press the cereal into the buttered pan and let it cool for 30 minutes before cutting them into squares.

Wowzers! I've made lots of different types of Rice Krispie Treats, but this is probably my favorite! Hubby thought these were a little "girly", but he took them to his men's Bible Study, and they were wolfed down. Compliments and not complaints! That being said, these are so good and pretty; they would be perfect for a ladies luncheon or a baby shower. Decorated with an icing flower? Thanks for sharing - this is a keeper!
