Lemon Frosted Golden Raisin Buns

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375f degrees

Step 2

Bring water, butter, sugar and salt to a boil

Step 3

Add flour and beat until mixture leaves the sides of the pan

Remove from heat and beat 3 minutes to cool

Step 5

Add eggs one at a time, beating until smooth and satiny after each addition

Step 6

Add raisins and mix well

Step 7

Drop by measureing tablespoonfull onto greased cookie sheet

Bake 30 to 35 minutes

Combine frosting ingredients in order given, (add lemon zest if using),drizzle over buns while the buns are still warm.

Awesome recipe makes tasty buns! I don't recall ever making any recipe like this, but it resulted in buns that were somewhat like an eggy creampuff...hollow in the middle. I used my 1 1/2 tablespoon cookie scooper and then spooned a little extra dough on each of 20 buns. My oven runs hot, so I checked them at 18 minutes and removed them from the oven because they were already light brown and looked done. They were a tiny bit doughy in the middle but I loved them with the lemon glaze which I used cream and lots of lemon zest in. These are best while still hot out of the oven...I ate far too many then, but leftovers were discarded...I even tried reheating some in the microwave and they just weren't the same. While I loved these, Hubby found the very eggy flavor strange with the sweet glaze. I love eggy crepes and pancakes, so I just thought of them like that. Made for the Billboard recipe tag game.
