Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a large saucepan bring 5 cups of water, 2 cups sugar and lavender to boil; stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil until reduced to 4 cups (10-15 minutes).

Step 2

Bring remaining 12 cups water to boil in a large pot. Remove from heat. Add tea bags and steep 5 minutes; strain into a very large pitcher (the syrup can be done one day ahead; chilled separately until cold; cover and keep chilled)

Step 3

Fill 10 glasses with ice cubes. Pour 1 cup tea into each glass. Stir in 4-6 tablespoons syrup; garnish with lavender if desired.

This is so refreshing. The lavender amount was just right, not overpowering like some versions I have had. I used an Earl Gray tea. I easily cut recipe in half.

This lavender scented tea is absolutely wonderful! I already had unsweetened tea in the fridge, so just made the syrup. And OM Gosh, it's amazing! I used a scant 4 tablespoons of the syrup, and that's the "sweet spot" for me. Not too sweet, not too diluted. Just perfect for that afternoon around the pool! This would be really great for serving at a baby shower or ladies luncheon, or anytime you want a "fancy" tea. Lately, I've been drinking a lot of lavender lattes at my neighborhood coffee shop, but I think I'll be switching to this iced tea. Thanks for sharing!

I really enjoyed the lavender syrup added to the tea. It was refreshing and I will be using the lavender syrup for sure again. When making again, I will steep the tea longer so as to make it a bit stronger, as it washed out a bit, especially with the addition of the ice. Thank you, ellie, for sharing. Made it for Billboard Tag.
