  • If you don't have Granny Smith apples, any other baking apples will work just as well.
  • If you prefer a sweeter apple crisp, feel free to add an extra 1/4 cup of sugar.

  • Substitute honey for granulated sugar - Honey is a healthier sweetener than granulated sugar and it also adds an extra layer of flavor to the dish.
  • Substitute almond meal for oats - Almond meal has a nutty flavor that can enhance the flavor of the dish and it is also gluten-free.

Cherry Apple Crisp Replace the apples with 4 cups of pitted cherries and 1 cup of diced apples. Increase the sugar to 1 1/4 cups. Omit the nutmeg and replace the walnuts with 1/2 cup of chopped almonds. Bake for 35-40 minutes.

Blueberry Apple Crisp Replace the cherries with 4 cups of fresh blueberries and 1 cup of diced apples. Increase the sugar to 1 1/4 cups. Omit the nutmeg and replace the walnuts with 1/2 cup of chopped almonds. Bake for 35-40 minutes.

RECOMMENDED DISH: Vanilla Custard Sauce - This creamy and delicious custard sauce is the perfect accompaniment to Kittencal's Double Crust Apple Crisp. The sweet and creamy vanilla flavor will complement the apples and oatmeal crust perfectly and add a delicious depth of flavor to the dish.

RECOMMENDED DISH: Vanilla Ice Cream - Vanilla ice cream is the perfect accompaniment to Kittencal's Double Crust Apple Crisp.
