Step by Step Method

Step 1

In a medium size bowl, beat the egg. Slowly whisk the warm pineapple juice into the egg so it doesn't scramble. Then add the honey, sugar, salt, ginger, vanilla, and butter.

Step 2

Place 1 1/2 cups of flour in a large bowl. Stir in the egg mixture until well-combined. Sprinkle in the yeast, and mix.

Step 3

Add the remaining 1 1/2 cups of flour and mix in. Blending with a spoon will be hard, so you may have to use your hands. Make sure it is thoroughly combined. Cover the bowl with a cloth and set in a warm place to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size. (I turn my oven on to 200 degrees F and set the bowl on top of the stove to rise).

Step 4

Remove from the bowl and knead in 1/2 cup flour. Knead about 20 times.

Step 5

Form dough into a loaf and place in a greased and floured loaf pan. Cover and place in a warm place to rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Preheat oven 400 degrees F.

Step 7

Place in preheated 400 degree F. oven and bake for 25 minutes. Remove from pan and place on a cooling rack. Let cool about 1/2 hour before slicing.

Tips

  • Possibly a coffee thermometer to gauge temperature of warmed pineapple juice.
