- For best results, use cold butter straight from the fridge.
- For a sweeter scone, use golden raisins instead of dark raisins.
- Substitute the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. This substitution will provide more fiber and nutrients to the scones while still providing the same texture.
- Substitute the butter with coconut oil. This substitution will make the scones vegan-friendly while still providing the same flavor and texture.
Cinnamon-Raisin Scones Follow the same instructions as above, but add 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon to the dry ingredients, and replace the lemon zest with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Blueberry Jam Butter: This sweet and creamy butter pairs perfectly with the Hot Raisin Scones. It adds a burst of flavor to the scones, and helps to balance out the tartness of the lemon zest. Plus, it's a great way to add a little extra sweetness.
Citrus-Infused Yogurt: This tangy yogurt is the perfect accompaniment to the Hot Raisin Scones. The citrus notes help to brighten up the flavor of the scones, while the creamy texture helps to balance out the tartness of the lemon zest. Plus, the yogurt provides an extra dose of protein, making it a great addition to any breakfast or brunch menu.
