Grilled Burger Sliders (Perfect Party Food)
"Perfect football food or for just a party, I made the onions and bacon up a day ahead and warmed them just before adding them onto the burgers, I doubled the recipe and served them to friends at a patio party, not one was left I'm thinking that I should have made more! The 6 1/2 minutes is for the burger cooking time"

Step by Step Method
Step 1
For the Onions: Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium high heat. Add onions, salt, pepper and sugar. Saute onions for a good 20-30 minutes. Allow them to really break down and have the natural sugars come out. Reduce heat to low and keep warm until ready to use.
Step 2
For the Sliders: Preheat grill to medium-high heat (around 350) Place ground beef, garlic, milk, brown sugar, salt, chili powder, black pepper and cayenne into a large bowl and mix until just combined (use you hands to mix and don't over work the meat).
Step 3
Use a 1/4 cup measure of meat and form into a patty, making an indentation with your thumb in the center. Repeat with remaining ground beef; should make 12 sliders.
Step 4
Place sliders onto the grill and close lid. Cook for 3 1/2 minutes. Flip over and baste cooked side with BBQ sauce, close lid and cook for another 3 minutes or so. Flip again, baste with BBQ sauce and add 2 quarters of cheddar to each patty. Close lid for another minute. Remove from grill.
Step 5
Serve on slider buns with a scoop on sauteed onions, and 2 of the bacon pieces. Add additional BBQ Sauce. Serve hot!
