Grenadine My Way
"Why not make your own Grenadine to add to your drinks, or give as a gift. It's cheap and easy to prepare. Adding an ounce of high-proof vodka or grain alcohol will act as a preservative, making it last longer in the fridge. If you opt not to use the alcohol, you can store this in a plastic container in the freezer. The sugar keeps it from freezing, and you can just pour out syrup as you need it. When making drink recipes, you may need to add a little more of this Grenadine than the recipe calls for, to create the desired sweetness(just mix the drink and taste to see if it is sweet enough, if not, add a little more Grenadine). Also after making the Grenadine, you can add a few drops of red food coloring to make it darker in color if you like."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
Using medium heat bring pomegranate juice to a boil.
Step 2
Once boiling lower heat to medium-low, and let it reduce by half, about 15 minutes. (You can cook it down more to make it thicker if you want to).
Step 3
Take off stove and add sugar, mixing it well, so that the sugar dissolves. Add alcohol if using and mix well.
Step 4
Let cool, then put in a container and either put it in your refrigerator, or in the freezer (in a plastic container).
