Grandma's (Not my Grandma 's) Swedish Meatballs
"This recipe was found in the TOH's 2017 Quick Cooking Annual Recipes. It was sent to them by Karin Ness from Big Lake, MN. You know sometimes when you try a new recipe for the first time and wonder if it will work, well I can tell you that this one does. :) As I did,please feel free to adjust the seasoning to your own tastes. Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a medium size bowl mix together the first four ingredients.
Step 2
Add the beef and sausage, mix lightly and make sure it's mixed together thoroughly.
Step 3
Place 1/4 cup of flour to a small bowl,then shape meat mixture into 1 inch balls (I got 24 balls out of the mixture ).Add and coat a few meatballs at a time with the flour.
Step 4
In a large skillet ,heat oil over medium high heat until hot but not smoking, add meatballs and cook until lightly browned.
Step 5
If needed drain meatballs and return to skillet,add 2 cups of broth,bring to boil.
Step 6
Reduce heat ,cover and simmer until meatballs are cooked through,about 6 minutes.
Step 7
Remove meatballs with slotted spoon .Add the remaining flour to broth and stir until smooth.
Step 8
Bring sauce back up to boil,cook and stir until desired thickness is reached.
Step 9
Place meatballs back into pan and heat through.
Step 10
Serve over your favorite starchy item.
