"When my mom moved to a senior community and was purging her home, I snatched up her 1973 'The Barcardi Party Book'. In the book, this recipe was called Barcardi Fireside. I love the idea of this recipe, and while I haven't tried it yet, I drink a lot of hot tea in the winter or when I'm not feeling great. The first step (warming the mug) was not in the original recipe, but it is a must in my opinion whenever putting a hot drink or soup into a mug. This will be in my plans the next time I heat up the tea kettle. Cooking time includes the time to make the hot tea."

What a warming treat! I love hot tea and this was a soothing, comforting way to have it. I liked the addition of rum. I didn't have a good lemon, so I chose to use lemon ginger tea and it worked well. Thank you!

Very nice tea that warmed and soothed the soul. It is ever so simple to make and a perfect accompaniment while decorating the Christmas tree, which I did. I used 1 oz. rum only instead of the 1.5 oz. and used a combination of white and Malibu rum. Thank you so much Karenstl for sharing. Made it for Billboard Tag.

I'm not all that keen on tea or rum, but this is an exceptionally delicious combination. I fixed it as written, using Aneno rum, and as a nightcap. If the tea keeps me awake, I hope the rum knocks me out. I took a while to finish it, so re-warmed it twice in the microwave. That worked just fine.
