  • Be sure to use raw shrimp for this recipe, as cooked shrimp will not have the same texture when cooked.
  • For the Mountain Dew or Sprite, use whichever you prefer or have on hand.

  • Substitute the soy sauce with tamari sauce for a gluten-free version. Tamari is a similar soy sauce that is made without wheat and is gluten-free. This substitution allows those with gluten sensitivities to enjoy the dish.
  • Substitute the Mountain Dew with orange juice for a healthier version. Orange juice is a great source of vitamin C and other essential vitamins and minerals, while Mountain Dew is mostly sugar and caffeine. This substitution allows for a healthier version of the dish.

Vegetarian Shrimps Sauteed Replace the shrimp with 2 cups of diced mushrooms and 1 cup of diced carrots. Fry the garlic and onion until lightly browned, then add the mushrooms and carrots. Cook until the vegetables are tender and add the soy sauce, Mountain Dew, sugar, and tomato. Cook for 5 minutes, then add the cornstarch and water and cook until thick.

Coconut Rice - This fragrant, fluffy rice dish is the perfect accompaniment to the Filipino Shrimps Sauteed. The sweetness of the coconut complements the flavors of the shrimp and the sugar and Mountain Dew in the recipe, while the texture of the rice provides a nice contrast to the tender shrimp.

Filipino Lumpia - This crunchy, savory Filipino spring roll is the perfect accompaniment to the Coconut Rice and Shrimps Sauteed. The flavors of the Lumpia complement the sweetness of the Coconut Rice, while the crunchy texture provides a nice contrast to the tender shrimp.
