"This is from a Hunts tomato sauce ad in Life magazine, dated April 19, 1948. Dutch meatloaf printed an ad for Hunts tomato sauce. Some folks use brown sugar instead of molasses and use tomato soup instead of tomato sauce."

Step by Step Method

Step 1

Preheat oven 350°F.

Step 2

Mix the meatloaf using only 1/2 the can of tomato sauce, using the rest of tomato sauce in the topping sauce.

Step 3

Form loaf in a pan, then mix the sauce and pour over meatloaf (rinse out the tomato sauce can with the water).

Step 4

Bake 60 minutes or until the meatloaf is cooked through, basting 3 or 4 times with the sauce while cooking.
