Step by Step Method

Step 1

Boil the potatoes in lightly salted water, until almost done.

Step 2

Drain, peel, and dice.

Step 3

Place in a buttered baking dish.

Step 4

Combine flour and 4 tablespoons butter in a saucepan over a low heat.

Step 5

Mix into a roux.

Step 6

Slowly add cream, stirring constantly. Simmer until thickened.

Step 7

Season with salt and pepper.

Step 8

Pour over potatoes, toss to coat.

Step 9

Cover with cheddar cheese and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons butter and bread crumbs mixed together.

Step 10

Bake at 400 degrees until cheese is golden brown.
