"The drink itself has origins from India, Pakistan, Greece and Macau. It went viral when it was shown on a Korean TV show called Pyunstorang in January, 2020. In it, actor Jung Il-Woo traveled to Macau, tried the drink and gave it the nickname Dalgona Coffee for its resemblance to the traditional Korean sponge candy of the same name. This recipe only works with instant coffee due to an ingredient within the product that helps create the foam."

Step by Step Method
Step 1
In a large mixing bowl, add coffee, sugar and hot water.
Step 2
Whisking by hand - using a whisk, first mix the coffee, sugar and water until everything is melted. Start whisking until it becomes meringue like. It should form a hard peak in just under 3 minutes of constant whisking. Set aside.
Step 3
Whisking using a hand mixer or stand mixer - start mixing at lowest speed until all the coffee and sugar are dissolved. Up the speed to highest setting until hard peaks form (just under 2 minutes). Set aside.
Step 4
Fill coffee cup/mug with cold milk and add some ice.
Step 5
Spoon the foam to the top of the milk. Top it with some hot cocoa powder or cinnamon (optional). {Photo Moment} Mix it with a spoon to enjoy it as a latte or just as it is as you get a little bit of milk and foam in one sip.
